Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him. (Psalm 34:8)
God is all around. Do you see Him? Can you hear Him? Have you felt Him? The smells, the tastes, all from Heaven. Have you experienced them?
It never ceases to amaze me how often God will use many things in order to teach, guide and instruct. This past week, the lessons I have been encountering all center around experiencing God through my senses. I have realized something: I am so busy rushing through the day, I am missing it.
The food before me is inhaled rather than fully tasted and enjoyed. The sounds around me get drowned out rather than absorbed, and the sights are overlooked rather than noticed. I am move too fast to enjoy the touches of God and the candle overrides His scent.
Stop. Notice. Look. Listen. Touch. Taste. See that the Lord is good.
This is changing things for me, completely. More joy, more excitement. More smiles, more laughter abounds. Less frustration, less anxiety, less feelings of unworthiness.
Come Lord, fill this place. May I have eyes to see, ears to hear; may I taste and see that you are good, recognizing the pleasing aroma of you as I touch your goodness and grace.
