There is truly something beautiful and edifying about the faith of a child. Children keep it simple, they do not become concerned with trivial matters, and they will happily share with anyone what they believe. I remember when my niece was four years old or so and told me, "Chelle, we just need to love God and hate that devil." Simple yet profound, don't you think?
Truth be told, I would much rather hear the theology of my young daughter than most pastors and Sunday school teachers. She knows God loves her, she knows He cares for her and protects her. She often tells me, "I can't wait to be in Heaven with God and Jesus; it's going to be so fun!"
I know that our child, and many of my nieces and nephews are being raised knowing Scripture. I am thankful for the fact they are having seeds of Truth planted into their lives. The harvest will be bountiful in each of their lives, even if the road to maturity involves some slips and stumbles.
Each night as we pray with and for our child, I am thankful God is allowing me glimpses of eternity through her eyes, her hugs and in the simplicity of her faith.
