Sweet Fellowship

Last night, we had the honor of hosting our small group for an adult only evening.  To say it was a great evening would be understating how I feel about the night.  It was so fun, so wonderful, and so refreshing.  It was rather comical at first because all of us, being parents, took a while to adjust to not having to tend to a child throughout our meal or our time together.  Ok fine, it took five minutes or so, not long at all really, but there was a moment of awkwardness.

For dinner, I made a BBQ brisket, corn on the cob, ranch potatoes and asparagus, and corn bread muffins.  It all came out so well, except for the muffins.  Silly things chose to stick to the pan, and were therefore cornbread muffin tops.  That's the part everyone likes most anyway, right?  For dessert I served up pecan caramel pie and lemon cheesecake.  Mmmmm, so yummy.

We ate, we laughed, we talked, we laughed even more, and were able to sit and relax and enjoy.  With our newly reorganized living room, we sat comfortably together as stories were shared.  It was such a great evening!  Cozy house, great food, good conversation, many laughs, and some of the most wonderful human beings God has created.  What a way to walk into Christmas week.  I feel like God gave me an early Christmas gift last night as I looked around the room at each person He has brought into our lives at this moment, at this place, at this time.
