More on Immunizations

Yes, the subject of immunizations keeps coming up, more and more, since I blogged about it. This morning, a friend of mine sent me a great site called "Every Child By Two." Go on, check it out. As stated on their website, their mission is to:
Protect all children from vaccine preventable diseases by raising parental awareness of the critical need for timely infant immunizations, fostering the establishment of a systematic method to locate and immunize children, and providing convenient access to immunization services into the future.

The site has information on why immunizations are important, as well as research studies on immunizations. In addition, there is also a development chart for parents to refer to, which I find interesting. You know, gotta make sure baby girl is excelling in this life! HA. Just kidding. It is nice to know what milestones she should be at during particular months. But anyway, check it out for yourself: "Every Child By Two."

It's good to see all the points of view to make a wise decision. I immunized my kids on schedule, and they did great.

I do have a friend whose family member immunized their daughter, who subsequently had an adverse reaction and ended up with severe brain damage.

Hearing those things can be scary, but it is extremely rare, and a pediatrician could probably offer a lot of reassurance.

It seems that a lot of diseases have been eradicated, but with our global society, I'm sure they could make their way back into the United States easily. That's what I think about: that there is still a risk of getting these diseases. There was a big measles outbreak in our state a couple of weeks ago.....

One thing I did not do, was get my kids immunized against chicken pox. Most kids end up getting it anyway, although a lesser case....

My two cents! Good for you for educating yourself! :)
