Vices Loosening Their Grip

This, my friends, is my vice, my drug of choice. It seems small and insignificant to some I am sure, but for me? Talk about a vice - stronghold - addiction even!

As I was reading through these books of crazy wonderful workouts, the author discusses saying good-bye to diet sodas. Aside from water, it really is the only other thing I drink. I'm sure there are worse choices (regular soda, sweet tea, etc), but this wonderful nectar from Dublin, TX is what gets me. So, since I have goals, because I have this girl and this girl who are, unknowingly, convicting the mess out of me, and because I am co-leading a fitness class at church (ie: preaching about healthy living), I must walk away from my sweet addiction.

After discussing this with Andy, we both decided to no longer go for the sodas when we go out to eat (we don't keep such things in our house), and we are going to become better about sticking to our rule about sweets (once a week). To jump start this? We aren't having any of the above items until June 30th, when we will gather together with a crazy group of friends. And even then, there will be no consuming sodas...that one, it's just gotta stick.

OH Diet Dr. Pepper is also one of my favorite things!! I know I should stop drinking them but I just haven't given them up yet. I feel right now I've given up so much already I am just not willing to give that up too. My hubby HATES it that I drink so many sodas! He read an article recently about the bad side effects coke has. Anyways I've started drinking my more ice tea when out at restaurants but I still honestly have one diet coke or diet DP a day. Soon I will look into giving them up too!! Good luck to you!!

My goodness...Diet Pepsi is my diet soda addiction. I have been thinking to myself that I should drink less soda and more water and then...BAM...I read your post! It's confirmation that I better increase the 'ol H20!! Thanks so much! :)

Chelle I gave up pop a while back and only drink a soda every once in a blue moon but my vice is a hot cup of tea made the English way in the AM. I can not imagine giving that up it would really take an act of God and my husband being willing to deal with the grumpiness. Good luck giving up your vice.

Oh my goodness, Diet DP is my addiction as well. I do Weight Watchers and a can of Diet DP is zero points, my friend!! I am so addicted to it that I gave it up for Lent one year. But I know, I am trying to not only lose weight but keep it off by changing my eating habits. And that means more water, less of the golden nectar. Oh well. Just know I'm right there with you. I've tried to limit myself to one can per day.

By the way, I went to Road Runner Sports today and got me some spiffy new shoes fit just for me (well, for people with my kind of feet). I feel like such a runner now!

Seems I have struck a chord somewhere my friends :) Clearly, since our bodies are made up of so much water, drinking water is best. Deidra is on the right track with her tea, all kinds of healthy benefits! Diet Soda? Just keeps the craving for sugar!

We all got something...and Staci has new shoes - yippee! That is exciting indeed :)
