This morning, we celebrated my friend Peggy's departure from this earth and arrival into Heaven. After two years of cancer, God took her home. It is strange to say because we were at a funeral, but it was one of the best praise and worship services I have ever been a part of. Those who spoke did wonderfully, the songs were incredible, the tribute a blessing. Peggy would have hated all the attention placed on her, but her eyes would have danced to hear people talk about her Jesus, and to see those people who gave their lives to Christ after hearing Peggy's testimony.
It all seems very surreal still, and it will be for a while I suppose. She is the first member of our church body to be taken home, and the impact will be widespread. However, we rejoice that our parting is only temporary, and find hope in the fact that it is ok to mourn.
I smile at the thought of Jesus standing at the gates of Heaven, with arms opened wide, saying, "welcome home daughter, welcome home."

I find sollace in your post when I think about my mom. She passed away four and a half years ago. "See you in a little bit." That makes me smile to think about because our separation really is only temporary.
I know what mean about a funeral being a wonderful time of worship. Both my mom and her good Friend's Arleen's was like that too!! It is a celebration of life with our heavenly father!!! One I am so longing for one day!!!
Chelle,
I know you often read and leave comments on my blog, so I checked yours out today. :) When I read this post, I thought of a song I know. Here are the words of the chorus:
Just think of stepping on shore,
and finding it Heaven.
Of touching a Hand,
and finding it God's.
Of breathing new air,
and finding it celestial.
Of waking up in glory,
and finding it...home
Isn't that wonderful?
Jodi
